One of the main palaces of the Earl of Redondo and originally built during the 16th century, Casa da Calcada was completely refurbished in 2001 at which time it became a hotel. Declared a building of special architectural, historical and cultural interest by the Portuguese government, it maintains its original Baroque style and its neoclassical elements.

There is a bar and games and reading room. The prestigious Largo do Paco Restaurant serves regional and Mediterranean cuisine and holds a Michelin star. The one hundred year old garden houses two seasonal outdoor swimming pools with pool bar which serves light meals. There are tennis courts, bicycles and a private vineyard.
