Day 1 : UK to Porto
Fly from the UK to Porto. After collecting your hire car, self drive to your first hotel.
Day 2 : Porto
Today you will have the opportunity to discover the highlights of Porto on a half day private guided city tour. This afternoon, take a tour through a Cathedral-like port wine cellar, which houses gigantic, wooden vats and casks of precious stocks of young and aged Ports ahead of their release to worldwide markets. You will learn about the Port lodge and cellars as well as the production of the port. At the end you will move to the tasting room.
Day 3 : Porto to Baiao

Day 4 : Baiao
Head off on a one-day Douro River Cruise. This is a chance to really get a feel for this fascinating region.
Day 5 : Baiao to Coimbra

Day 6 : Coimbra
This morning, you will visit Aveiro, the Portuguese Venice. In its historical centre, 19th and 20th century Art Nouveau palaces show the wealth the salt trade generated in this town. Peek into a pastry shop and taste the famous Ovos Moles. After this, you will visit one of the most charming palaces in Portugal, Bucaco Palace, before returning to the university city of Coimbra. Founded in 1290 by King Dinis the university now displays a tremendous amount of history and knowledge within its walls. Its library has an incredible collection of over 200,000 books stored in incredible carved and gilded bookshelves. The chapel of Saint Michael is also worth a visit and you should take a walk within the old medieval streets of Coimbra’s ancient historical centre to Santa Clara Monastery.
Day 7 : Coimbra to Lisbon

Day 8 : Lisbon
Enjoy a guided tour of the highlights of Lisbon, including a tram ride and a stroll through the elegant and sophisticated Chiado district, with its theatres, book shops, old-style cafes, art nouveau jewellery shops and luxury international brands.
Day 9 : Lisbon to Evora

Day 10 : Evora
Today you will have a guided tour of Evora. Walk the historical centre and feel the atmosphere of this town. After reaching the walled city, you can visit the church of St Francis and its Chapel of the Bones. Your tour continues up the narrow streets of the old town reaching the Giraldo square where the Inquisition once had its headquarters. You will have time to explore the Roman Temple and the 12th century cathedral before a stop in the university courtyard. In the afternoon, you can visit Arraiolos with its white houses framed with blue or yellow stripes, the castle at the top of the village keeping guard and the embroiderers working in the streets and making the famous Arraiolos carpets.
Day 11 : Evora to Beja

A day at leisure to explore your surroundings at your own pace.
Day 13 : Beja to Vilamoura

Day 14 : Vilamoura
Enjoy a guided tour of the Eastern Algarve, beginning in the cubist city of Olhao. Here you can visit the traditional market that is held daily in the morning and you will also visit the fishing port. From here you will go to Tavira, where you can see the Roman bridge and some of the towns many churches. Take the short route through Cacela Velha to see the magnificent view over the Ria Formosa, before reaching Vila Real de Santo Antonio, which lies on the border with Spain.
Day 15 : Vilamoura to Faro to UK
Self-drive to the airport, before ﬂying home.
