The central Spanish region comprises Extremaduran countryside, the harsh vine-growing regions of Castilla-La Mancha, small medieval towns and picturesque mountains. This itinerary ends in the capital city, Madrid.

Salamanca 1 night | Avila 1 night | Toledo 2 nights | Madrid 3 nights

Day 1 : UK to Madrid to Salamanca

Fly from the UK to Madrid. You will be collected and transferred by private car to your first hotel. On arrival in Salamanca, begin with a tour through the historic Plaza Mayor, the Cathedral and the Zona Universitaria.

Day 2 : Salamanca to Avila

Today, you will head towards Avila. On arrival, you can enjoy a cultural route, where you will visit the Santa Teresa Museum and Convent. You will also visit the Cathedral and the Renaissance Walls until you get to Avila’s old town. Later in the afternoon, you will visit a local workshop to learn how to make the authentic Yemas de Santa Teresa, before enjoying a dinner with local products.

Day 3 : Avila to Toledo

This morning, you will go from Avila to Toledo. On arrival, you will head to a cheese factory and a cellar and winery and then on to a marzipan factory. You will have lunch and then meet your local guide for a tour to learn about the three cultures of Toledo; Jewish, Muslim and Christian.

Day 4 : Toledo

Today you will stroll around the Tagus river before taking a tour to the Mudejar neighbourhood in the old town and continuing behind the Alcazar to the Cathedral. Later, after sunset you can watch the lighting of the city walls at night.

Day 5 : Toledo to Madrid

Today, you will head to Madrid. On arrival, you will have a guided tour of the main attractions of the city before heading to one of the typical local markets, San Miguel.

Day 6 : Madrid

Today you can go inside the famous Prado Museum and learn about art and history. After this visit you can walk through the beautiful gardens and around the local area. In the afternoon, you will visit the Royal Palace and discover its most unique treasures.

Day 7 : Madrid

This morning will be dedicated to Madrid de los Austrias, a traditional neighbourhood that tells the history of the times where the nation was ruled by the Austrian monarchs. After lunch, you can visit the Salamanca and Milla de Oro, an exclusive shopping area.

Day 8 : Madrid to UK

Finish your time in Madrid with a relaxing walk in one of the city’s parks, El Retiro. You will be collected from your hotel and transferred by private car back to Madrid Airport, before catching your flight home to the UK.
