Switzerland

Switzerland enjoys a rich and varied cultural life - internationally acclaimed art collections, specialist museums, castles and monasteries are all there to be explored and regular music festivals to enjoy, particularly jazz and classical.

We feature two elegant hotels In Vevey, a little town at the side of Lake Geneva. Its pretty flower filled promenade extends to nearby Montreux and the famous Château de Chillon, a 13th century moated castle. In town, interesting little shops are tucked away in narrow lanes and the local museums cover fine arts, regional artefacts, wine growing and the history of photography. The frequent boat services are the ideal way to visit other lakeside towns.

The Swiss railway system is deservedly famous so don’t miss a day trip on the Golden Pass Panoramic train to sophisticated Gstaad in the Alps. Alternatively, book seats on the delightful little ‘Chocolate Train’ to the Nestlé factory – a real must for chocoholics! To add to the flavour, there is an en-route lunch stop at the ancient village of Gruyères, world-famous for its cheese making.

Lakeside sojourns are essentially peaceful so why not extend the experience by adding beautiful Lake Como to the holiday on one of our two-centre arrangements.
