Portugal Lamego
Capture true Portuguese living by staying in one of these family owned Manor Houses or Quintas which have been specially selected for their character and ambience. You will enjoy old-fashioned hospitality in lovely surroundings. However, staying in a Manor House is not quite the same as in a hotel. Mealtimes are sometimes less flexible and often restricted to breakfast. You may not be able to order a drink in the daytime and credit cards are seldom accepted. The Simpler Hotels featured are Estalagems and Albergarias in regions of the country often missed by tourists. You can be assured of a friendly welcome and the owner is invariably on hand to advise and offer suggestions for visiting local places of interest.

Caso Sto. Antonio de BritiandeA little gem in the Douro Valley. This small and very intimate house is an ideal base for exploration of the vineyards and terraces along the Douro River. Attractively furnished. As with many Portuguese houses, it has a small chapel in the garden which dates back to 1680 and Mass is still held on Sundays for the local residents. There is a swimming pool. Dinner on request. |
