Porto Santo

A small island some thirty miles away from Madeira where the accent is on total relaxation. The superb sandy beach stretches for almost six miles along the southern shore. Discovered by Christopher Columbus, the island is peaceful and serene and the pace of life delightfully slow. The tiny capital, Vila Baleira, has just a few shops and a number of restaurants and there is an 18-hole golf course within easy reach.
